Location: Strathcona County, Smoky Lake County, St. Paul County, Lamont County, Thorhild County,   MD of Bonnyville, Athabasca County and surrounding areas.

About Us: Heartland Training & Support Hub, formerly known as the Farm Safety Centre, has been a cornerstone of rural safety education in Alberta since 1990. Our organization is dedicated to empowering rural communities by providing essential health, well-being and safety training and resources. We are excited to expand our Safety Smarts program and are looking to hire 1 new instructor to join our Safety Smarts team.

Position Overview: We are seeking a motivated and disciplined individual with a strong agricultural background to deliver our Safety Smarts program to rural elementary students across Alberta. As an Independent Contractor, you will have the flexibility to set your own schedule and work hours, primarily during school hours (8:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday to Friday) from September to June. You will be responsible for both face-to-face and virtual presentations via Zoom, delivering impactful farm safety messages tailored to each grade level.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver farm safety presentations to elementary students in rural schools, both in-person and via Zoom.
  • Schedule and book your own presentations with schools, teachers, and administrators.
  • Prepare and organize materials for each presentation, ensuring all necessary resources are in place.
  • Manage and update records in the SalesForce program, including contact information and presentation logs.
  • Submit invoices, receipts and logs in a timely manner.

Qualifications:

  • Agricultural Background: Must have experience or a strong understanding of farming/ranching operations and lifestyle.
  • Familiarity with Hutterite Culture: Understanding of Hutterite operations, lifestyle, and culture is essential, as they are key clients.
  • Teaching and Engagement: Ability to effectively teach and engage elementary-aged children.
  • Tech-Savvy: Proficiency with Zoom, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, networking basics and basic data entry (Salesforce experience is a plus).
  • Reliable Transportation: Must have access to dependable transportation to travel to various schools.
  • Time Management: Strong organizational skills with the ability to independently manage your schedule.
  • Independent Contractor: Comfortable working as an independent contractor, not an employee.

Compensation:

  • Compensation ranges from $50.00 to $100.00 per presentation, depending on the length (30 minutes to 2 hours).
  • Travel time and mileage will be compensated when necessary.

Additional Requirements:

  • Must have reliable internet access for virtual presentations.
  • Must be available to work during the school year (September to June), with no work expected in July and August.
